Reflection on Love

If love means to shed one’s skin,

To weave someone in arms, then sin,

And crush their emotions deep within—

If this is love, then forgive me,

For such a crime is not for me.

If love means to plot and scheme,

To seize beauties lost in a dream,

Then tear out their eyes that gleam—

If this is love, then forgive me,

For such cruelty is not for me.

If love means to trap with words,

To mold them sharp like swords,

And tarnish someone’s world—

If this is love, then forgive me,

For such betrayal is not for me.

If love means to walk in dark,

To crush blossoms in the park,

And smile at your own heart’s mark—

If this is love, then forgive me,

For such coldness is not for me.
