 A report in Politico, a US-based news publication, claims that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is under threat of assassination for trying to normalize relations with Israel. The report said that the Saudi crown prince told members of the US Congress that he was risking his life by seeking better relations with Israel and the US, including improving relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel.




According to Politico, Mohammed Bin Salman cited that slain Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat was assassinated after he signed a peace treaty with Israel - "What did America do to protect him?" He also spoke openly about the risks he faces, explaining why any such deal must include a real path to a Palestinian state, especially as the war in Gaza has now The anger of the Arabs against Israel has increased.

The report said the conversation with Mohammed bin Salman was revealed to Politico's correspondent by a former US official, who was briefed on the conversation and by two other people with knowledge of it. Despite the risks, the crown prince is ready to push ahead with the mega-deal with the US and Israel, according to reports, with Mohammed bin Salman seeing the deal as crucial to his country's future.However, the report added that the Israeli government is not ready to find a credible way forward for Palestine in the agreement. Earlier this year, amid heightened Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza, Saudi Arabia told the United States that it would not have diplomatic relations with Israel until East Jerusalem and Israeli aggression were resolved. Also, an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders is not recognized.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said in a statement that they are staying in the Gaza Strip. Earlier, White House national security spokesman John Kirby said that the Biden administration has received positive feedback that Saudi Arabia and Israel are ready to continue normal talks. The ministry said that in response to the White House, the kingdom reaffirmed its steadfastness on the Palestinian issue in light of the comments attributed to Kirby.
