Is Natasha Danish, the suspect in the Karsaz accident, already out of jail?
A social media image circulating today claims that Natasha Danish, who is accused in the Karachi Karsaz road accident, has been released from police custody. The image, showing Natasha making a victory sign with both hands in front of a group of lawyers, appears to be fake and likaly AI-generated.
Natasha was taken into police custody on Munday and has been placed under a 14-day judicial remand. Despite this, many people on social media have been misled, highlighting the risks associated with AI-generated content.
The image is reminiscent of the Shahrukh Jatoi case, where Jatoi, after receiving a death sentence for killing Shahzeb Khan over a minor dispute, was eventually pardoned.
The Case
On Wednesday, a judicial magistrate ordered that Natasha be held in judicial custody for 14 days. During a hearing at the Karachi City Court, the magistrate decided that Natasha would remain in custody while the case proceeds. Despite Natasha’s lawyer arguing that the case was initially bailable, the addition of Section 322, which deals with culpable homicide, has made the charges non-bailable.
The petitioner’s lawyer also requested an analysis of the substance Natasha was allegedly under during the accident that resulted in two deaths. In court, Natasha identified her husband as Danish and denied any mistreatment by the police. The magistrate instructed the investigation officer to present the investigation report at the next hearing.
The investigation has revealed that Natasha was driving without a local license at the time of the accident, leading to the inclusion of Section 322 due to her alleged speeding. Initially, the case involved Section 320, which pertains to accidental homicide. CCTV footage indicates Natasha’s car was traveling at around 100 kilometers per hour on a service road with a speed limit of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, which significantly contributes to the severity of the charges.
